The Coda

So they say that an owner begins to resemble their dog, or perhaps the opposite is true. I've noticed a few things in the last few days that make me believe that completely. And this goes beyond the constant need of affection and affirmation that Z is so quick to note.
On my glorious day off due to Veteran's day I decided that Coda deserved a surprise morning walk. So off we went bundled up against the chill and the few snowflakes falling out of a clear sky. Gorgeous day. As we tend to do we made two new friends. A lovely yoga instructor and he sweet little puggle. When our canine ladies first met they were on leash and my Coda was an aggressive b*tch! All growls and ruffled feathers. Just a few moments later the ladies we off leash and fairly oblivious to each other. We walked and chatted for the next half hour without any incident. But I did notice on the last big hill climb that Coda would occasionally shoulder check the other dog. Just a subtle little "Don't forget whose in charge here!".
So that is so completely me! Full of bravado at first, making sure everyone's eyes are on me. Followed by a period of quiet observation, calculating and planning my next move. Finally, small and precise actions specifically directed to place people where I think they ought to be.
So the question remains... Is she turning into me or am I turning into her?

*note to all: yoga instructor will kick your *ss all over town and especially up hills. Luckily she was a great conversationalist and kindly chattered on while I wheezed and reddened.
